Non-silicon based photovoltaics is a fast growing market due to the increasing cost and complex handling properties of solar grade silicon. IMPT's Layatec™ and Layajet™ processes can efficiently lay down P-, N- type layers, window layers and back contacts for non-silicon based PV cells. The Layatec™ and Layajet processes can be used for multi-layer deposition on substrates of any size without the need for a vacuum, electron beam or plasma. Therefore larger PV cells can be manufactured or even produced on a reel-to-reel system without expensive capital equipment or high running costs. Using Layatec™ and Layajet™ will significantly reduce the unit price of a PV cell and therefore opening up new market opportunities.
